    Keep an eye out...

I just found some new 1/87 scale Hot Wheels cars at Walmart. So far I have found: '05 Ford Mustang GT, VW Beetle, Porsche Cayman, Ford GTX1 Concept, Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept, Ferrari Enzo, and Bone Shaker (Hot Rod).

They are not as high of quality as reel rides or the regular malibu Int. but they are 1/87 scale.  They all have aftermarket chrome rims and are missing side mirrors. They also have larger rear wheels that cause the rear wheel openings to be larger then normal. They were about $3.00 which seems steep compared to the high quality of Reel Rides.

Also, if you have not seen them, Walmart has 1/87 scale CATs. These are about $6.00 and are really good quality.

Some of the walmarts have the cats on clearance , $5, and my wife seen the fresh cherries on clearance $1.50 . Next batch coming soon?

Just returned from Wal-mart in Mt Airy,NC. My lucky day as I was able to buy all 5 of the reel rides. Chances are they will sell out fast so I got mine.

Looking at Motormax's site, they now have a 70 Maverick and 82 Honda accord listed as coming soon. Still too bad they cany bring in the rest of their 1/64th lineup, all those great american Graffitti cars.

I don't understand the Hot Wheels 1:87 scale Purple Passion Merc, unless the car I bought at Wal-Mart is a factory goofup??? It is black, not purple. I have seen this car in a larger scale at the store, and it is purple with whitewall tires.

The 1:87 scale vehicles should be very profitable for all involved in their marketing, if sales are good, when you consider it probably doesn't take much more to produce them than it does to produce their nearest relatives, the regular lines of Hot Wheels, Matchbox, and other maker's blisterpack vehicles that are priced under $1 at Wal-Mart, while the 1:87 scale are priced at two to three times that.

No, they are all black, And the purple passion is available in 1/64th in more than purple. That is crazy when you see a purple passion in yellow. I have cut the back thingie off of one, and made a presentable custom merc, done in turquois with a turq, interior, white seats with red trim. Alot of cutting and filing, but it came out nice.

A tru cobra merc would be really great.

I haven't seen any Reel Rides or Black Box series at Walmart for a while. There is not even a space for them anymore. Anyone know anything?
